Honda established a sales office in Los Angeles when it first arrived in America in 1959. They set out to replicate Japan's successful dealership network by mailing marketing materials to dealer prospects.
The featured artwork on this t-shirt was adapted from an American Honda dealership sales booklet from 1959 to 1960. It has a wonderful mid-century modern aesthetic with a tagline: "Motorcycling's New Trend to ULTRA-DESIGN". The same serifed Honda logo from the 1950s was also used on early dealership signage.
